The HTML-CSS Web Designer Certification validates practical web layout and design skills, including semantic HTML5, CSS3, responsive design, media queries, Flexbox, CSS Grid, accessibility fundamentals, cross-browser compatibility, and performance-aware front-end practices. It is designed for aspiring web designers, entry-level front-end developers, freelancers, bootcamp graduates, self-taught designers, career changers, and professionals strengthening their resumes.

COITB exams are available through online remote proctoring from many U.S. and international locations, subject to proctor availability windows. In-person testing is also available at authorized COITB test centers. For online testing, candidates need a desktop or laptop, webcam, microphone, stable broadband connection, government-issued photo ID, and a quiet private testing space.

The exam format for COITB credentials is generally 58–90 multiple-choice and scenario-based items, with a 75–90 minute timed exam window. Passing scores are typically in the 70–75% range, depending on the credential. Candidates receive a digital badge after passing, which can be added to LinkedIn, resumes, and employer verification workflows.

Candidates may also verify eligibility for funding sources such as GI Bill, VET TEC, MyCAA, VR&E, WIOA, or employer reimbursement.
